On July 21, 1997, history was made on the
waters of Massachusetts Bay as the U.S.S. Constitution sailed under her own power for the
first time in over a century! No one alive had ever seen the oldest commissioned warship
in the world sail on her own (and the Navy now indicates, she may never sail on her own
again!) Hundreds of thousands of people shared in the excitement as the wind filled the
huge sails high above the deck of the majestic vessel. Relive the excitement with this
Collectors' Edition Home Video. WBZ TV' s Jack Williams and Liz Walker bring you the
highlights of this spectacular event, as it happened. You ' ll get insight and background
from experts like Captain Rick Gurnon of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and local
historian Bette Hunt, as well as from the NewsFour New England News Team.
