Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you called SeniorVision?

We called ourselves SeniorVision because we first formed the company to create television programming for older people. While we still advocate quality programming for older people, our focus has returned to our roots.... creating video content for corporate, government, and charitable organizations.

Who are your clients?

We've done work for clients all over the United States, ranging from big institutions like Chase Manhattan Bank, to smaller companies like Video Zone in Randolph, Massachusetts. See our company information for a longer list of clients.

How much does a video project cost?

Many variables go into determining the cost of a video project. Each project is different, so therefore the costs differ as well. The number of shoot days, the amount of animation and graphics, on-camera talent and voice overs, the location of shoots the number of people to appear on camera and any special equipment required are just a handful of the variables that determine the bottom line.

So how do you estimate the cost of a video?

The first thing we do is sit down with you and determine exactly what you are trying to accomplish. Tell us what you are trying to say, and who you are trying to say it to. "Internal" videos can be bare bones, and can be done for much less than an "external" video which reflects your organization's "public face." If you have a budget range in mind, now would be the time to discuss it. Once we have a good idea what you are trying to accomplish, We will formulate a proposal which will include our plan for the video, as well as a budget for the project. We'll determine the number of shoot days required, the amount of graphics and animation (if needed) as well as any special equipment needed for the project.

My Brother-in-law has a pretty nice video camera. Can't we shoot it ourselves?

Of course you can, but then again, would you want to? Consumer Electronics have made great advances in recent years, but keep in mind, you are not just hiring gear, you are hiring the skills to effectively use that gear and to craft a message that achieves your goals. Anyone can purchase a hammer and a saw, but that doesn't make that person a carpenter.

Why should I be concerned with "Broadcast Quality?" Our project is not going to be shown on over-the-air TV or cable stations.

We gather most of our video assets in what is known as "BetaSP." It is a high quality, rugged video format which is utilized by nearly all TV and Cable networks. By shooting raw footage in this format, we start out with the best possible, affordable image. Production companies which start out with lesser quality images cannot make up for it in the post-production process. As the old saying goes, "Garbage in, garbage out."

How do you get video on the web?

Once a piece is shot and edited, we utilize special software to "compress" the video into a computer file. That file is then placed on a web server, and can be accessed by any computer.

We've already got a website. Can you get our video on it?

In a word...Yes. We can design your site from the ground up, or we can leverage the look and feel of your existing site to place your video content.
