As a certified fitness
instructor, and host of FOREVER FIT: The Mind-Body-Spirit Connection, Loura White brings a diverse
background to her students and viewers. Born in Los Angeles in 1931, Loura spent many of her
early years as a competitive swimmer in Phoenix, Arizona. After moving back to Southern
California, Loura received her degree in English Literature and attended art school. In 1969,
Loura left on what was to be a five week vacation to Indonesia, and wound up living in
Jakarta for eighteen years! While there, Loura taught English as a second language and studied
batik. At 47, following a long illness which zapped her strength, Loura began an exercise
program. At first, Loura walked around in a large hall at the compound where she was living.
Soon after, she began a regimen based on the Royal Canadian Air Force Fitness Book that detailed a
gradual way to increase strength and well being.
