Eventually, Loura exceeded the fitness
requirements expected of people her age! She joined a Gym and began aerobics, swimming and
weight training. She started a running program, training with a man who was in Jakarta
preparing for the Honolulu Marathon and learned Tai Chi from an instructor who gave her lessons in
exchange for one of her original paintings. In 1988, Loura pulled up stakes from Indonesia, and
moved to an equally exotic location, Istanbul, Turkey. It was while in Turkey, she began
developing her own fitness program. Seven years later, she brought her expertise back to the
United States. After settling in Boston in June of 1995, Loura enrolled in a senior strength
class at the Boston YWCA and short time later, was asked to teach the class.
